Coupla videos I’ve seen recently that gave me the hejeebies :O And yes, I’m bored O_o Currently stealing my friend’s laptop to make this post, because I’m away from my home without anything to entertain me. Stupid real life interferes with fun >_>
Love this shark :O Extend-o-mouth!
Check the kid in red about halfway through.
My most favourite superhero ever :D
Has to be one of the most WTF videos ever O_o
Well, it’s been a really long time since I last posted here. Guess I just have a really short attention span :( I mean, yesterday I allowed myself 6 hours to write out a 1000 word essay, which would normally be plenty of time. After 2 hours, I realised that I still didn’t know what the topic of my essay was, and forced myself to knuckle down and get to work. Two hours in, I found myself playing an online game – S4 League, for those of you who are curious (http://s4.en.alaplaya.net), a really great free MMO shooter. Speaking of which, I’ve really been slacking on the gaming front recently, with my TV not even being out in my bedroom, instead still tucked away in it’s box since the last time I went home to my parent’s. I’ve been picking up the games I wanted – FFXIII, Mass Effect 2, Bayonetta, Muramasa: Demon Blade (one of the most beautiful games I’ve seen recently), Tales of Symphonia: DotNW, Dragon’s Age, etc. Hell, I’ve barely made a dent in most of the games I have started, and since I’m the type that likes games with a huge story and loads of things to do (ie RPGs), I’ve basically got a backlog nearly reaching the 1000s of hours in terms of playtime :( Some of the games I picked up recently:
I don’t really know why I have this blog, so I guess I’ll just use it as a place to rant and vent all my frustrations/anger/rage (delete as applicable :P). Lessee, things that have annoyed me recently….. Hmmm, I guess uni fits in there at the moment. Since about November last year, I’ve been steadily losing focus and motivation for my work, and since the course I’m doing (Genetics) requires quite a bit of indepth knowledge and understanding, I’m pretty much getting crushed by all the stuff I need to catch up on. Lectures just seem to be spaced out and scheduled for the worst possible times, nudging me to just give up and not bother going, and all my deadlines just somehow seem to be organised for just after any really good nights out, meaning I generally have to stay in. I’m pretty much becoming a social recluse T_T It doesn’t help that I’m not putting the effort in anymore, which has resulted in me dropping down two grades in the last month, and getting told off by my personal tutor >_> But on the brighter side, I’m pretty much done with all my coursework for this year, meaning I’m free to concentrate on pulling my socks up for the upcoming May exams. Here’s hoping I don’t mess those up as well :( God, it’s pretty cathartic getting all that off my chest. That’s another thing that’s got me down – I don’t have anyone I really “click” with here, since both my girlfriend and my best friend both go to separate universities from me (in the case of my best friend, he’s studying in America O_o). Sure, I have friends I enjoy hanging out with and having a laugh with, but no-one that I can actually open up to, the kind of person who you know you can share all of your secrets and troubles with.
Now that I’ve got all that crap out my system, let’s talk about brighter things :P Since I last posted, I’ve picked up a lot of stuff that I’ll eventually post on this blog about. I guess the main aqquisition was that of an entire bookcase full of manga :D Of course, I bought the bookcase and all the manga separately, but I feel a strange warmth in my chest whenever I look at the whole thing, like it’s affirming “Yes! I am a nerd!” :P Pics below:
Notice the new gundam models on top of my bookcase :D I’ll take proper photos of everything some other time, I’m too lazy to find my camera and take new, cleare pictures at the moment, especially since it’s nearly 1am. You can see from the 3rd pic that the rows are doubled up, meaning there’s quite a bit of manga there, even if it doesn’t quite match up to real otaku’s collections :( I’ve also got a tiny amount of anime dvds \o/, courtesy of friends who insisted I buy them. Some more random pics:
And I’ll leave you with this final picture, of one of my cats :D
I have a huge draft post detailing my Macross Frontier VF-25 mecha kit, but I can’t really be arsed finishing the post, so it’ll probably never see the light of day. Instead, here’s the finished version of my Sword Impulse Strike Gundam, from Gundam Seed Destiny:
I still need to add the decals, and sort out a more stable pose, since I haven’t got the stand for it. It’s a pity all of the weapons can’t be held at once, since the boomerang swords look pretty cool as well.
Also, I’ve ordered a Canon Ixus 100 IS, since I was direly in need of a new camera, and it should arrive just in time for my first anime convention ever, which is MCM London :D
I’m away for the next ~2 weeks, due to a family emergency in Sri Lanka, so I’ll just leave you with pics of my newest item:
And no, I don’t have long hair or plan to wear that as a hair pin, I just bought it cause I thought it’d look cool on my bag I use for uni. The thing i really like about it is that it’s really understated, as in that if you hadn’t actually seen Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, you wouldn’t know it’s from there and just assume it’s some random skull badge :D I actually got the idea from this random guy who was wearing it on the lapel of his suit jacket, at my uni’s sports club faire.
Also, I’m sure that the awful quality of the photos here is evident, and that’s because they’ve all been taken with my phone, which is only 3 MegaPixels. I’m planning to pick up a digital compact, and my budget’s around £150. So far I’m leaning towards the Panasonic Lumix FS15, which has some really great reviews on the net.
Well, my blog is officially a wasteland :D Since no-one reads this anyway, it mean I can write whatever I want! So therefore I’m just gonna record random things so that in the near future, I can look back and go “LOL! What a loser I was back then!”
So, today I received something cool:
Yeah, it’s a collection titled Headphone Girls, which believe it or not contains images of girls wearing, wait for it, headphones! It contain’s illustrations from 52 fairly well-known artists, each using a brand name headphone in their image. Cost me $32 plus postage, but looks to be well worth it. Some pull out posters as well, it’s awesome.
I also spent part of the day (before heading to uni) building my Sword Impulse Gundam, and have so far made the chest, head, arms and weapons, as well as the little flyer thing :O
I was looking for something to balance the upper body on, and the Fate/Zero Saber statue was nearby, so…. :D
Also, I’ve noticed that my figures attract a lot of dust :( I need to get a duster or something.
Hmmm, I’ve been thinking about this for a while, and I really do need a new camera. It’d have to be digital, and not too expensive. After all, I’m on a student budget :O Maybe one of the cheaper Olympus compacts?
Aside from that, I recently splurged a bit on manga, picking up Fruits Basket (an awesome series) v1-19, Real Bout High School v1-6 (dire, but a light hearted read), Black God v1-2 (i love Park Sung-woo’s art, have most of his english series), Parasyte v1+2 (interesting, might buy more) and Sundome v1 (which i havn’t got round to reading yet :() Since I’ve leeched off the internet scanlations for so long, I’ve always felt a bit guilty about the fact that the mangaka received nothing from me, so now I’ve got a bit of spare change rolling about, I’m trying to do my bit to support my favourite authors :D
Feel free to comment on series you’ve bought recently, and i’d also appreciate suggestions about buying a decent camera :S
What are the chances of it happening? I bought two separate items from ebay a week apart, from completely different countries, and they both arrive on the same day! Yep, that’s right, my W-Gundam Custom Wing Zero has finally arrived :D
Can’t wait to get started on it:
I think I’ll probably do the Sword Impulse Gundam first, if only cause it looks simpler and I don’t wanna mess this one up :P All in all, it’s like today was Christmas come early. Now I can’t wait for my other stuff to come :D
Had the day off today, hence the spamming of so many sites :D
I was intending to spend some time on Aion today, to try and level my assassin a bit, but it was just my luck that the moment I decided to log in, server maintenance started :( Bored out of my mind, I’ve decided to try and apply my pathetic art skills to creating a chibi-ized (?) version of my ‘sin. Here’s the very basic and weird looking WIP:
It’ll probably take me a couple of days of random doodling to finish it, and I’ll post it for my non-readers to read :D
Well, I kinda abandoned this blog thing since it was too much effort, but I’ve decided I might as well just make random posts while I feel like it. Theres a suprising amount of unfinished draft posts here, so maybe i should get round to finishing those :D
Well, what inspired me to post was the mailman. Or rather, what the mailman delivered:
It’s the Master Grade 1/100 Sword Impulse X56S Gundam Model Kit and Final Fantasy Dissidia: Collector’s Edition for PSP. I’ve never actually made a Gundam kit before, but I did use to be really into model kits, having built around 20 planes, 2 ships and I think 2 cars. The closest I’ve come is the Macross Frontier VF25 kit, which is actually pretty close. I’m not really sure about Dissidia, but I’m a FF fanboy, so I kinda had to get it, even though I’m currently button-bashing my way through Fate/Unlimited Codes (PSP), which is much more complex than I thought it’d be. Suprising how two of my favourite series suddenly decided to dump fighters on me, and on the same system :O It’s a conspiracy!
Well, I kinda went on a bit of a spending spree, so maybe I’ll update with those things that I bought when I get them. Not that anyone out there is reading this, anyway :D
Well, I wanted to get involved in scanlation, and give something back for all the years I’ve spent leeching. So I emailed Franky House’s thefolenangel, and he agreed to teach me the basics behind cleaning and typsetting. I started off with this page:
And ended up with:
I was quite proud of how I did, even if folen had to keep reminding me about things I missed. And so I got ambitious and picked up a raw and translation from MangaHelpers, of one of my current favourite manga, Nurarihyon no Mago. Here’s the finished product, if anyone wants to laugh at how pitiful my attempt was :D
I was pleasantly suprised by how supportive the people at MangaHelpers were, and I’d like to think I learned something from the experience. Folen is still testing me, to see whether I can be of use to him, but I’m gonna try to pick up random chapters to do now and then, if I can find the time.
